Chia Network Moves Focus To Gaming
Gaming continues to draw eyeballs as the killer app for web3 adoption, with Polygon, Avalanche, Protocol Labs, Sui and Solana all pouring resources into attracting game devs to their ecosystems.
Now Chia Network is joining the race by announcing CODE. A little late, but we’ll take it.
Introducing the Chia Open Digital Economy (CODE) framework - a tech infrastructure enabling an open metaverse!
CODE is designed to bring better protection, increased interoperability, & broader connectivity across digital economies: https://t.co/OLttyEsX1Z 1/4

What’s CODE?
CODE or Chia Open Digital Economy, is a framework for the open metaverse that promises “true” interoperability.
And they intend to bring this to life by enabling four core activities.
Users can buy or sell items in one virtual world's marketplace and then use it in other virtual worlds.
Users can also buy or sell items from different virtual worlds on an external marketplace that will accept all sorts of digital currencies.
Users can swap items with another user within a virtual world, no marketplace needed.
And if a user knows someone outside of the virtual world, both can trade assets directly without even touching a marketplace.
To show this framework in action, they set up a TCG game. Yes, another one.
But they are doing this because it is a popular genre, and most TCGs lock up their cards in centralized marketplaces. With ChiaTCG, they will be bringing online trading to the genre, enabling players to trade P2P.
Also, they also don’t need to deal with interoperability tied to complex visuals by sticking to 2D art.
What we know about the game
They decided to go the open-source route for the game, getting contributors from Kalt Solutions, MonkeyZoo, MintGarden, Pawket and more.
NFT owners in Chia will have their NFTs natively work in the game and can already see how powerful their NFTs will be by using the appraiser tool.
A name is yet to be selected for the game, and owners of the Chia wallet or DID can vote on any of these three names - ChiaVerse, ChiaFrenzy, and ChiaMania.
The beta is expected to launch on May 18 to collectors who have at least 6 NFTs.
Spielworks Unveils Wombat X
Spielworks, the blockchain startup that specializes in gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions, has unveiled Wombat X, a new web3 gaming accelerator program.
Their mission is to enhance gaming experiences and foster audience growth within the web3 gaming space.
What we know
Wombat X aims to address challenges in the web3 gaming industry, such as developer shortages, flawed user experiences, and the need for sustainable models and content-creator strategies.
With the program, they want to empower web3 gaming projects by providing grants, education, and access to the Wombat community.
The content and support will focus on industry best practices, user acquisition, and infrastructure development.
They brought in some big guns with partnerships with Cronos, Crypto.com, Newcoin, and other industry leaders to create a thriving ecosystem.
To get in, you need a playable demo, integrate with Wombat as the preferred login option, and integrate with Cronos or one of Wombat’s supported chains.
What’s the cost? A cool 0.3% of your token supply to Wombat’s audience.
The program will have 3 yearly cohorts, accepting at least 5 games per cohort.
If you want to check it out? You can to their website here.
